Free event previews Tempe Music Festival acts; reviews Tempe Festival of the Arts

TEMPE, ARIZ — Tempe Town Lake isn’t just naturally beautiful — there is a lot of gorgeous art located around Town Lake. Ranging from the Words over Water plaques to the Tree of Life, Tempe Town Lake celebrates artistry.

To acknowledge that art, and to celebrate new installations along Town Lake’s newest multi-purpose pathway, the City of Tempe is hosting the Creative Path Arts Walk on Tuesday, March 31, 5-8 p.m. The free event takes place on the walkway starting at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, and heads west to Priest Road.

As a rare treat, Grammy award nominee William Eaton will perform a free concert at the main amphitheater on the path. His guitar school is part of the plan for a future fine arts complex adjacent to the Tempe Center for the Arts along this pathway.

This event happens in the middle of Tempe’s Arts and Entertainment Week, bookended by the Tempe Festival of the Arts (March 27-29) and Tempe Music Festival (April 3-4.) Bands performing at Tempe Music Festival will take the stage at the Creative Path Art Walk and selected artists from the Tempe Festival of the Arts will have booths. Food vendors will be available. Many of the artists will have pieces available for purchase so bring your wallet.

For more details on the art, please visit www.tempe.gov/lake. For details on the event, call 480 350-8625.
