Spring into March Fun with Youth Classes at Kiwanis Recreation Center

TEMPE, Ariz. – Are your kids are catching Spring Fever and need something fun to do?  The Kiwanis Recreation Center offers a variety of classes that your child may love to participate in during the month of March.  Take a look at the list below and enroll today!

Below is a listing of the classes offered in March at the Kiwanis Recreation Center:

 I Can Be SafeTM-Kids!
An excellent kid-friendly safety class! Kids learn and practice safety skills in an interactive, fun manner. Children learn about tricks used by unsafe individuals, what to do if lost, telephone use, private parts, and much more. Parents strongly encouraged to attend with their kids. DVD and book available to reinforce learning at home. Fee: $25.

I Can Be SafeTM-Pre-teen!
It’s so important for older kids to reinforce safety learning! Pre-teens will learn how to be safer and empower them to make safe choices. This class teaches about methods used by unsafe individuals, what kids should do if they’re lost or approached, about private parts and the internet. They’ll learn about choices and practice skills for their own safety in a fun manner. Parents encouraged to attend with their kids. DVD and book available to reinforce learning at home. Fee: $25.

Stretch-n-Grow; Little Sport
Learn the names of our major muscles, and the basic skills of different sports activities. From basketball to bouncing balls to soccer and more! Each class consists of a warm-up, aerobics, sport activity, and cool down. Muscles they will strengthen, fitness they will learn, and oh you’re going to love the ENERGY they will BURN!! 4 weeks. Fee: $38.

Stretch-n-Grow; Toddlercize
Toddlercize uses music, games and EXER-citement to make fitness FUN! Each week Stretch-n-Grow “Stars” participate in structured work-outs and activities that help them create spatial awareness, rhythm and social development as they interact and have fun with their peers. Parent participation is optional, but encouraged. 4 week class. Fee: $38.

Cooking for Kids: Spring Dinner
Would you like your child to prepare you dinner? In this class, the children will prepare a 3- course dinner; appetizer, main entrée and desert. They will also enjoy their meal. Bon Appetite! Required supply fee: $15. Fee: $18.

Karate; Youth
Learn the self-defense art of Hawaii Kenpo Karate from Hall of Fame Instructor Patrice Lim. This on-going program has room for belt rank advancement. Required Lim Kenpo white uniform and school patches available the first day of class for $45. Uniform, safety equipment, belt testing fees and additional supplies are required for participation and are not included in the registration fee. New student orientation at 4:30pm on first day of class. *No class on 3/31. Fee: $50.

New! Blowfish Robocraft
Build your own Blowfish Robocraft, and learn about gears and circuits as you have fun building it. Our Blowfish Robocraft is propelled forward by a left/right moving tail fin. Your Blowfish Robocraft has a motor and you will learn how it works. You will also get to design and build other robots that can perform many tasks. We will see how fast your Blowfish Robocraft is, as you enter our Sciensational Workshop races. A lot of fun and education mixed together. Required supply fee: $41. Fee: $109.

New! Advanced Robotics
Build a wide assortment of robots, and take home your very own robot. Students will build a Robot Dinosaur, Mars Cruiser, Aquabot, Space Copter, Desert Rover, The Five Foot Tall Commander Robot. Students will use motors, wires, controllers, and wheels to build their robots. Required supply fee: $41. Fee: $109.

Babysitting Class, American Red Cross
Become a prepared babysitter! In this class you’ll learn the “how to’s” of properly caring for small children. Topics covered include accident prevention, feeding and dressing and what to do for breathing emergencies. Bring a non-perishable sack lunch. Required Supply Fee: $22. Fee: $29.
