Annual Hike and Concert Events to benefit St. Joseph the Worker

February 5, 2009 · Published By Editor

PHOENIX, AZ – St. Joseph the Worker will hold its 11th Annual Hike for the Homeless on March 7. This year, due to challenging economic times, the event is more important than ever.

For those who prefer live music over hiking, St. Joseph the Worker will benefit from a concert on Saturday, February 28 at 7 p.m. in Xavier College Preparatory’s auditorium. Suggested donation for a ticket is $15 and tickets are available online at www.sjwjobs.org/concert.htm or by contacting Molly at 602-417-9854.

“By supporting the Hike for the Homeless, each of the participants and sponsors has a direct and positive impact on homeless individuals seeking self-sufficiency,” said Amy Caffarello, executive director, St. Joseph the Worker. “We hope community members will come out and meet our staff and clients at the hike, or visit our Web site to learn more about the unique service St. Joseph the Worker provides.”

”People often take for granted the basic resources needed to find a job,” said Caffarello. “A telephone, address, computer, clothing, tools, transportation-these are things St. Joseph the Worker provides-from support raised at events like Hike for the Homeless. A donation of just $22.50 can guarantee work-related transportation for one of our clients for an entire month. If hiking isn’t your activity, please visit http://www.sjwjobs.org/ for a list of other volunteer opportunities.”
