The International Young Artists Competition encourages youth to interpret an international theme through original works of art. The competition presents an opportunity for young people to have their art appear in a local exhibit.

Participants can win cash awards and prizes for their creativity and artistic ability, while helping to extend the Sister Cities mission through the visual arts.

The 2009 theme is, “Your Path to Peace,” which aims to inspire youth from around the globe to consider mutual respect, understanding and cooperation in hopes to promote peace through one individual, one community at a time.

All entries must be original works of art inspired by the theme. Only two-dimensional artwork, no larger than 24″ x 30″ will be accepted. Submissions can be interpreted by artwork of watercolors, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, mixed media, photography or computer-generated art.
