Program Unites Valley Caregivers Through “Together We Care Day” Event

PHOENIX, ArizonaThe Caregivers Program of GateWay Community College is reaching out to its supporters and the media through the “Together We Care Day” event from 8-10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 15. The program connects local caregiver networks together to resource the only post-secondary training, awareness and education of its kind in Maricopa County. The 40-hour program has received national recognition and its students are employable the following week.

The purpose of the event is to share resources and create networks among caregiving employers, agencies, faith-based communities and prospective students. The Caregivers Program also aims to develop public awareness of community caregiving, its vision for 2009 and its unique educational program.

Who: The Caregivers Program of Gateway Community College.

When: 8-10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 15.

Where: GateWay Community College, Main Building – MA 1100 North & South,  108 N. 40th Street, Phoenix (40th Street and Van Buren)

The event includes an overview of the organization’s goals for 2009, a discussion panel and more.

Special guest speaker is Melanie Starns, Director of the Arizona Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging.
