PHOENIX – Ear Candy Productions Musical Instrument Drive for kids joins festivities at Phoenix Art Museum. Participants in the Instrument Drive will receive two complimentary Museum passes per usable musical instrument to the special event Walkabout, a celebration of international traditions, customs and cultures. The fantastic extravaganza is from Noon to 4 pm on Sunday, January 11 at the Phoenix Art Museum located in downtown Phoenix at the corner of Central and McDowell Road.. Ear Candy Productions, a 501C3 non-profit organization, is devoted to creating, supporting and sustaining music programs for youth and will be holding an Instrument Drive at the Phoenix Art Museum’s front entrance during Walkabout. Instruments received will be used to help revive and create music programs in schools, camps and youth organizations near the area they are being collected.
Celebrate the truly staggering range of diversity in world culture through music, food, performance and hands on activities at the Phoenix Art Museum. Lose yourself in our international collections of art. Listen to opera or watch flamenco dance in the European galleries. Explore your creative side with Asian art inspired brush painting or sari draping. Bring the kids and take part in the world gallery scavenger hunt. Step outside and satisfy your hunger in Dorrance Sculpture Garden as local ethnic restaurants offer mouth watering samplings. Be captivated by the sensual martial art of Brazilian performers from Axe Capoeira and stomp your feet to the beats of the Arizona Rhythm Connection.
Finally, take a seat and grab a glimpse of the movie, One Giant Leap, a unique and inspiring journey through world music featuring interviews with the likes of Eckhart Tolle, Carlos Santana, Deepak Chopra, Bob Geldof, Susan Sarandon, Stewart Copeland, Billy Connolly and more. Walkabout offers the whole family an amazing multicultural experience.
Can’t donate an instrument? You don’t miss this cultural extravaganza! All Walkabout performances and activities are included with Museum general admission, which is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens (65+), $8 for full-time college students with ID, $4 for children ages 6-17 and free for children under 6 and for museum members.
