Flat Stanley Goes to Mars at next Nights at the Museum

January 6, 2009 · Published By

Kids of all ages will be able to let their imaginations run wild with Flat Stanley’s latest adventure at the next “Nights at the Museum” at the Arizona Museum of Natural History, 53 N. Macdonald, Friday, Jan. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Flat Stanley Goes to Mars” is the theme of this month’s event. You will get the chance to make a Flat Stanley postcard from Mars and other activities. It’s based on the popular book about Stanley, a child who becomes flat and is able to travel in an envelope to incredible places. Flat Stanley has developed into a literacy project where kids send Flat Stanley everywhere. “Nights at the Museum” will also allow you to enjoy the new Mars! exhibition, along with PSI: Poop Scene Investigation and Hohokam! Ancient Monuments of the Salt River Valley.  Special admission is $4 for those 18 and under and $6 for everyone else. Museum members are admitted free.

After visiting the museum, you are encouraged to stay in Downtown Mesa for “Music on Main” which is this month’s theme for “Second Friday.” There will be an Open Mic Contest, live music at several Main Street venues, classic cars and more. Many of the shops, galleries, restaurants and other businesses along Main Street between Country Club Drive and Center Street will be open as late as 10 p.m.

For more information on “Nights at the Museum,” contact Arizona Museum of Natural History Curator of Education Kathy Eastman at 480-644-5662.
