P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Post Race Concert January 18th
Phoenix, Ariz. – Multi-platinum rock band Smash Mouth will take to the outdoor stage at Tempe Beach Park on the evening of Sunday, January 18 for the post race concert at the 2009 P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon.
Gates will open at 5 pm with an opening performance and marathon awards ceremony, followed by Smash Mouth at 8:00 pm. All P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & ½ Marathon race participants and volunteers receive free entry to the concert.
“Smash Mouth is a fun, vibrant group, and we are excited that they’re available to perform at our post race concert this year,” said Dawn Reichert, event manager. “We were hoping to find an upbeat group that would keep the party vibe going while our participants celebrated their achievements, and Smash Mouth fit the ticket perfectly.”
Since bursting onto the scene in 1997 with the hit single “Walkin’ on the Sun”, Smash Mouth has collectively sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Well-known for performing a dynamic and eclectic cover of The Monkees classic I’m a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek movie soundtrack, all three co-founding band members – Steve Harwell, Greg Camp, and Paul DeLisle – are as tight today as they were the day they first jammed together in their hometown of San Jose, California.
Having long since established itself as the ultimate true-to-life California party-band, the vibe surrounding Smash Mouth is indeed – at its core – about having fun.
Additional tickets are available online for $30 at Ticketmaster.com through Jan. 15, or can be purchased during the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17 at the Phoenix Convention Center. All race participants gain entry by presenting their race number at the door, and race volunteers receive a complimentary ticket as a reward for lending a helping hand. Concert tickets will be sold at the gate for $35.
Prospective runners are encouraged to register for the race and save before online registration closes January 11. This is the last opportunity for participants to receive the lower online registration price before they increase at the Health & Fitness Expo. For more information about P.F.
