Unemployed? Laid Off? Need computer skills?  Pay Only What You Can Afford

Phoenix, AZ – Training to You, a Phoenix-based company is offering local un- and under-employed persons a unique opportunity to update their Microsoft Office skills. Training to You, a computer technology center that offers a number of half-day classes each week, will make empty seats available on a “pay-what-you-can” basis, according to CEO and Founder Tim Smith. “Lots of folks are being laid off in this economy. This is our way of helping the community-by giving back.”

Training to You runs a number of classes in their career acceleration program, and often have an empty seat or two,” Smith said. “Why not offer those empty seats to people who could really benefit? A few classes could make a huge impact on their hire-ability and income.”

Each Tuesday, Smith and his associates assess if there are enough students signed up to run a class the following week. On Wednesday, classes scheduled for the next week are published on the Training to You website, with the empty seats opened up for the reduced rates. Classes run for one half-day each, although students may register for more than one class. Class size is limited to 12, and each student receives instructor-led classroom training and a manual for ready reference.

Fees for each class are normally $125 but unemployed or under-employed people are only asked to pay what they can afford. “This is basically an honor system. We consider under-employed people as those who are working in minimum or near-minimum wage jobs who cannot afford to get the skills and certification to move up,” Smith explained. “We want to help motivated people. Training to You also has career program vocational counselors who can connect qualified people for other funding or grants for certification-based, career track programs. Students can often see immediate results and can design the training programs that fit their situations.”

The Training to You website is http://www.trainingtoyou.com. All classes are held at the Training to You facility at 2200 N. Central Ave., Ste. 100, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Students may also call 602-266-1500 or 1-800-554-6187 to register or for more information.
