APS Fantasy of Lights Opening Night “Rolls” into Mill Avenue District
November 24, 2008 · Published By Editor
Tempe, AZ – This Saturday, November 29th, the streets of Mill Avenue will come alive with lights, music, and lots of action! The night kicks off at 6:30 PM with a lighted street parade down Mill Avenue that will cue lights creating a “rolling” lighting display. As the parade hits each block of Mill Avenue, more and more lights will enliven the streets until the parade has lit up all of Downtown Tempe.
Following the parade, visitors can take part in the annual Tempe Tree Lighting with Clifford the Big Red Dog and Mayor Hugh Hallman. Instead of one stand alone tree, there will be a “garden of Christmas trees” at Centerpoint on Mill Plaza. As the trees are lit, audiences will be dazzled by the fireworks display on the ground and in the air.
At the main stage, there will be live performances from Kimberly Stewart School of Dance and a special holiday concert from 60 Degrees North.
Bring a minimum of one can of food per car to the Opening Night festivities and get free parking at the US Airways Parking Garage. The donations are being collected by Kiwanis Club of Tempe whose mission is to serve youth and whose contributions will help our community serve underprivileged persons during the holidays.
The APS Fantasy of Lights Opening Night event is produced by Downtown Tempe Community, Inc. DTC is the private, non-profit organization that manages and inspires the vibrancy and excellence of the cultural, lifestyle, and commerce experience in the Mill Avenue District.
APS Fantasy of Lights Opening Night sponsors include APS, the City of Tempe, the East Valley Tribune, KAET 8 – Arizona Public Television, Tempe South Rotary, Centerpoint on Mill, Strategic Alliance Marketing, and Town & Country Foods.
