The all new Park Centre Homes at La Posada
Tucson, AZ – Imagine living independently, yet surrounded by a 100-acre community with boundless resort-style amenities. Welcome to the Park Centre Homes at La Posada. La Posada, a 100-acre continuing care retirement community, is nestled among the pecan groves of Green Valley. Home to more than 700 residents, La Posada only continues to grow as the premier retirement community in Southern Arizona.
For those who wish to enjoy all the amenities of La Posada, the financial security of an established leader in the senior housing industry, and the comfort of an individual residence, La Posada’s new independent living community, Park Centre Homes at La Posada is the perfect match. As the newest component to the La Posada campus, construction on the Park Centre Homes is slated to begin in fall 2009. Consisting of 35 beautiful homes, this is the last independent living community to be built at La Posada.
Park Centre Homes at La Posada will offer outstanding features such as four interior design selections, a focus on “green” building and flexible service packages. The Park Centre Homes will be offered with La Posada’s standard Entry Fee design and will offer a monthly service fee that can reflect a flexible service package.
There are two “great room” style floor plans being offered. The first, 1,875 sq. ft., offers two elevations, Mesquite and Sycamore. The second, 2,118 sq. ft., also offers two elevations, Cottonwood and Desert Willow.
La Posada is pleased to be working in conjunction with Pepper Viner Homes of Tucson, Arizona on this project. “La Posada chose Pepper Viner as their homebuilder because of their shared commitment to quality and because of Pepper Viner’s demonstrated leadership in the field of ‘green’ building,” says Joni Condit, Sr. VP and Chief Operating Officer at La Posada. The Park Centre Homes are being designed to be compliant with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) residential standards. The LEED Home program was unveiled by the United States National Green Building Council in 2007. La Posada intends for the Park Centre Homes to qualify for a LEED Designation, underscoring La Posada’s commitment for energy conservation and reducing carbon emissions in the environment.
A selection of green amenities include Energy Star® appliances (refrigerator, dryer, washer, dishwasher); high efficiency air conditioner unit (14 Seer-rated); digital programmable thermostats; low VOC paints; bio-based insulation; energy efficient windows and doors; DuPont flex wrap flashing at all exterior window frame sills, dark sky rates exterior lighting, soft water system, dual flush toilets, and compact fluorescent lighting. This is just a small sample from a very extensive “green” amenities list.
As the winner of Aging Services of Arizona’s 2008 Best Practices Award for Environmental Stewardship, La Posada is not only committed to “green” building, but also promotes the use of “green friendly” products and practices that promote health, safety, and social consciousness.
Reserving a Park Centre Home priority position will begin on January 6, 2009, but special meetings have been scheduled to learn more about the Park Centre Home project. About La Posada
La Posada is the largest, not-for-profit, programmed senior service provider in the Green Valley area and has obtained the status as the first, and currently only, Arizona continuing care retirement community to receive national accreditation from the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. La Posada began in 1987 as the vision of Tucson Medical Center to bring needed programs and services to the senior residents of the Green Valley area. The campus includes exceptional housing options and numerous support services in the areas of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Healthcare. In 1997, La Posada became an independent, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community and continues to meet the needs through its mission to “Maximize the well-being and Care of Seniors.”

[...] According to an article on La Posada’s latest project, the award-winning company not only desires to build earth-friendly homes, they also seek to “promote the use the ‘green-friendly’ products and practices that promote health, safety and social consciousness.” This is a standard to which all facilities, whether new or existing, should aspire. Recycling should become second nature and energy conservation would benefit all by keeping costs down – living “green” could save a lot of green, and in today’s economy, that is one thing that boomers and seniors can agree upon.
