Employee Boosters’ Contributions Surpass Last Year’s Totals

Salt River Project and its employees have raised more than $2 million for charitable organizations in the Valley.

The SRP Employee Boosters Campaign, which allows employees to donate through a one-time payment or payroll deductions throughout the year, distributes funds to a number of nonprofit charitable organizations – including the United Way throughout the Valley, Page and St. Johns.

Valley-based SRP employees raised a record $1,514,048 for community charities while employees at power plants in Page and St. Johns raised $172,500 and $72,180, respectively, for their community charities. In addition, the SRP Boards have approved a $288,000 contribution to the Valley of the Sun United Way and $49,300 for the Mesa United Way.

“During this tough economic time, it is uplifting to see SRP employees step up and help those who are less fortunate,” said Richard Silverman, SRP’s general manager.  “I am very proud of the level of support our employees have given to others.”

The contributions are part of SRP’s ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life for residents who may be experiencing difficulties in their lives.

“Our employees have made a conscious effort to devote some of their own resources to help others,” said SRP Valley Employee Boosters Board President Dewey Leitch.  “Their enthusiasm and dedication have been inspirational.”

SRP is the largest provider of electricity in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving about 930,000 customers, and is the Valley’s largest supplier of water.
