Happy Hounds Costume Contest to Benefit AZ Animal Welfare League

(Scottsdale, AZ) - Scottsdale-based Starpointe Communities in conjunction with the Arizona Animal Welfare League recently announced that they will be hosting the 1st annual Happy Hound Costume Contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 25.
The event will take place at 10-acre Registry Park at Artesia, located at 7293 N. Scottsdale Road (North of Indian Bend). Entry into the contest is free, but those wishing to take part in the event are asked to bring a bag of dog food, which will be donated to help feed the growing number of dogs that are currently living at the shelter. The winner of the contest will win a Ninetendo Wii.
In addition to the Happy Hound Costume Contest, a photographer will also will be on-site to take portraits of dogs and their owners, free of charge. There will also be snacks for everyone, water, and a doggie give-away.
The large number of local housing foreclosures has forced many families to move into smaller homes or apartments, requiring them to bring their dogs to shelters in hopes of having them adopted by other families. Because of this increase, shelters have seen an increase in the need for food.

We are hoping that this event will not only provide a fun and entertaining day for those that attend, but also help raise visibility for this great organization and how they care and protect animals in need,” said Rob Lyles, Starpointe Partner. “Our goal is to make this just the first of many local events that benefit our community.”
