Chandler Development to Offer Water, Energy Savings
October 16, 2008 · Published By Editor
Salt River Project and Cachet Homes are partnering on a new-home development in Chandler that will offer home buyers – for the first time – the opportunity to achieve water and energy savings.
When Cachet Homes’ Paseo Lindo community marks its grand opening this weekend, October 18th and 19th, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. home buyers will be able to tour model homes that are energy efficient. Paseo Lindo qualified for SRP’s PowerWise Homes program and the EPA’s Energy Star Program. Additionally, Cachet Homes made saving water a priority in this development and as a partner with SRP’s DesertWise Home program, Cachet will be showcasing water-saving practices in its model homes.
Cachet Homes’ Paseo Lindo community is located at the northeast corner of Arizona Avenue and Ocotillo Road in Chandler.
SRP’s DesertWise Homes program offers incentives to qualifying builders who incorporate water-saving features in their model homes. These funds are limited and will be dispersed on a first-come, first-served basis. Model homes must be located within the 10 municipalities SRP supplies water to or within SRP’s electric service territory. The builder must have a minimum of 50 home sites to qualify for DesertWise Homes certification.
SRP PowerWise Homes are specially designed to save energy and money in Arizona’s hot, dry climate. Through SRP PowerWise Homes, SRP partners with Phoenix and Valley homebuilders to establish a new standard for affordable, energy-efficient homes that are tested and inspected by a third party to ensure they meet the program standards. SRP PowerWise Homes require not only high-efficiency heat pumps or furnaces, but also sealing the building envelope to minimize waste and leakage. By the end of the decade, more than 2 million homes are expected to earn an energy-efficient rating similar to the SRP PowerWise program.
