Prominent Republicans looking for a change in County Supervisor

(CHANDLER, AZ) – Ed Hermes announced Tuesday the endorsements of several prominent East Valley Republicans who also believe, despite differences in party affiliation, Hermes is the best choice in the race for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in District 1.

“I don’t care much for partisan politics; I want the best candidate who will get the job done for our county. That is why I support Ed Hermes,” said Bob Rice of the Chandler Unified School Board.

Hermes, a Chandler Democrat, is running to restore fiscal accountability in the county’s 2.3 billion dollar budget, protect Luke A.F.B. from encroachment, and promote real public safety.

In addition to Chandler Unified Board member Bob Rice, Hermes also received prominent Republican endorsements of Gilbert Vice-Mayor Joan Krueger; former Tempe Mayor Rudy Campbell; and Maricopa County Community College Board Member Colleen Clark. Clark, who was elected in 2006, represents Supervisor District 1 on the Community College Board.

“These endorsements are a sign that people want real leadership in Maricopa County, and are willing to cross party lines in order to get it,” said Hermes.
