Orthopaedic Surgeon to Host Free Seminar Targeting Shoulder Pain in Athletes

Dr. Craig Weinstein of Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists will provide evaluation techniques and treatment options for shoulder pain commonly occurring through throwing and overhead sports

GILBERT, Ariz. – According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, each year in the United States approximately 70 percent of the 30 million children and teenagers who participate in organized sports, suffer from overuse or stress injuries to the shoulder.

To help athletes effectively assess their aches and pains, Gilbert Hospital and Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Craig Weinstein, MD, MPH, of Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists are collaborating to discuss shoulder pain in athletes as well as provide evaluation techniques and successful treatment solutions.

About Dr. Craig Weinstein
Dr. Weinstein is a long-term Arizona resident and a graduate from the respected Tulane University School of Medicine located in New Orleans, La. After completing medical school, Dr. Weinstein went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He spent a year as a sports medicine fellow at the world-renown American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Al. under the direction of Dr. James Andrews. Dr. Weinstein was recently awarded the Herodicus Traveling Fellowship, one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country awarded to sports orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Weinstein serves as a team physician to local high schools for the Gilbert Public School District, Higley Unified School District and Queen Creek High School. He also is an orthopaedic consultant to the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Dr. Weinstein is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
