Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department Presents Special Olympics Competitions

The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for Special Olympics competitions throughout the city this fall. The competitions include bowling and golf for individual athletes and volleyball and golf for team entries. Competitions are broken into three different age groups, 8-15, 16-21 and adults ages 22 and over. The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is the premier sponsor of Special Olympics competitions in the greater Phoenix area.
The bowling tournament runs from Oct. 21-28 at AMF Christown Lanes. Games start promptly at 10 a.m. each day during the tournament. The golf tournament is set for Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Encanto Nine Golf Course, 2300 N. 17th Ave. or athletes can participate in an individual skills competition at the Encanto Golf Course driving range, 2705 N. 15th Ave.
There also are two team competitions, both of which are scheduled at Rose Mofford Sports Complex, 9833 N. 25th Ave. The volleyball tournament will take place Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m., and the soccer tournament is set for Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
