Tempe Parks and Recreation to host NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition for area youth

TEMPE, Ariz. – Young pro football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills when Tempe Parks and Recreation hosts an NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Benedict Sports Complex on the northwest corner of Kyrene and Guadalupe roads.
The competition is free and open to boys and girls ages 8-15.
Registration will be held on-site at the beginning of the event. All participants must provide a copy of a document that shows proof of age.
The NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick football competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in punting, passing and kicking with scores based on distance and accuracy. Boys and girls will compete separately in four age divisions: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15. Age classification is as of Dec. 31, 2008. The top finishers will advance to the Sectional competition and then to the NFL Team Championship, which will be played at an Arizona Cardinals home game.
A number of NFL players have competed in Punt, Pass & Kick, including star quarterbacks Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe. Launched in 1961, the competition is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.
