Portion of Third Street Converts to a Two-way

September 19, 2008 · Published By Editor

Beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. Third Street, from Fillmore to Monroe streets in downtown Phoenix, will convert to a two-way street with two southbound lanes, one northbound lane, a center turn lane and some on street parking.

Traffic along Third Street will be restricted to one lane during the conversion process early Saturday morning.

The conversion will allow traffic from Van Buren or Monroe streets to access the new Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel main entrance on Third Street.

When the Phoenix Convention Center construction is complete, crews will extend the two-way Third Street conversion south to Washington Street, allowing access to the Sheraton Hotel from Washington Street and improved circulation around the Convention Center.
