Pecos Park to Host 2008 Sports Explosion Sept. 27

Fitness and exercise are proven steps to good health, but to many people, getting in shape just feels like work. Phoenix-area residents of all ages will have a great opportunity to learn new ways to get fit and healthy at the 2008 Sports Explosion, an event that will celebrate the “Phoenix Day of Play,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Pecos Park, 17010 S. 48th St.
Through hands on exhibits, clinics, demonstrations and informational booths, people of all ages will learn and experience new ways to enjoy a healthy lifestyle through sports, fitness, active play and good nutrition.
Participants also can enjoy entertainment, games, lots of cool prizes and meet 2008 U.S. Olympic Softball medalist Lovieanne Jung and Phoenix Mercury player/coach Bridget Pettis.
The 2008 Sports Explosion is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and hosted by the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, the Maricopa Council on Youth Sports and Physical Activity (MCYSPA), and the Phoenix Women’s Sports Association.
