Any Lab Test Now is Offering Prostate Screening Tests

September 17, 2008 · Published By Editor

(Scottsdale, AZ) – According to the American Cancer Society about 1 in 6 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lives and only about 1 in 35 men will die of it.  Of those men that die of other causes not related to cancer, nearly 30 to 40 percent of them harbor undiagnosed, harmless-prostate tumors, autopsy results show.  With September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, this is a great time for men to have a simple test to show the level of Prostate-specific antigen (PSA’s) in their blood which is an indicator of possible tumors.

Any Lab Test Now (www.anylabtestnow.com/arizona) the nation’s fastest-growing retail healthcare testing facility offers PSA testing at their Scottsdale facility which is located at  8902 East Via Linda, Suite 115 in Scottsdale (in a retail center on the northwest corner of Via Linda) and requires no appointment or physician’s order.  The test is a simple blood test and results are typically returned within 24 hours.  Any Lab Test Now offers local residents the opportunity to take control over their health in a cost efficient and professional setting.

There are several prostate cancer risk factors that men should be aware of and may want to consider a PSA test if they meet any of these criteria:

  • Age – Prostate cancer is relatively rare before 40, but the chance of having prostate cancer rises rapidly after age 50. About 2 out of 3 prostate cancers are found in men over the age of 65.
  • Race/Ethnicity – Prostate cancer occurs more often in African-American men and they are more likely to die from the disease. Prostate cancer occurs less frequently in Asian-American and Hispanic/Latino men than in non-Hispanic whites. The reasons for these racial and ethnic differences are not clear.
  • Nationality – Prostate cancer is most common in North America, Northwestern Europe, Australia, and on Caribbean islands. It is less common in Asia, Africa, Central America, and South America.
  • Family History – Prostate cancer seems to run in some families, which suggests that cases there may be an inherited or genetic factor to the disease. Having a close family member such as a father or brother with prostate cancer more than doubles a man’s risk of developing this disease.
  • Diet – Men who eat a lot of red meat or high-fat dairy products and who eat fewer fruits and vegetables appear to have a slightly higher chance of getting prostate cancer. Doctors are not sure which of these factors is responsible for raising the risk.

“Any Lab Test Now is dedicated to helping the local community maintain good health.  With September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we hope to elevate the visibility of this disease and provide a resource for testing which is very treatable when it is captured early,” said Perry Simons, managing partner for Any Lab Test Now in Scottsdale.

In addition to the Prostate Cancer Screening (PSA) test, Any Lab Test Now offers numerous standard healthcare tests including cholesterol, glucose, liver function, thyroid, STD’s, Thyroid,  Ovarian Cancer Screening (CA125), drug screening, pregnancy (shows fetal age) and paternity testing that will hold up in a court of law.  Any Lab Test Now also serves the employer community with drug screening, background checks, on-site testing and any other lab testing they may require.
