PHOENIX, Ariz. - Desert Schools Federal Credit Union presented a check to local non-profit group, Arizona Saves in support of continued homebuyer education workshops.
Arizona Saves empowers Arizonans to build sustainable self-sufficiency by advancing healthy money management through education, saving, debt reduction, and asset building.
Desert Schools, Arizona’s largest credit union began their partnership with Arizona Saves five years ago when the housing market was booming.
Emma Garcia, director of community development for Desert Schools said, “Back in 2003, people were looking for information about real estate investing and first-time home buying. Today, we’re seeing an educational shift towards saving strategies, refinancing and avoiding foreclosure.”
Desert Schools says the funds will empower Arizona Saves to reach homebuyers in all walks of life who are looking to better their financial situation through education.
The credit union provides office space for Arizona Saves at its Black Canyon office in uptown Phoenix. In addition, Desert Schools’ staffers volunteer as presenters with Arizona Saves providing useful money management information to help families build self-sufficiency skills.
