PHOENIX, AZ - Kate Voegele, recording artist and guest star of CW’s “One Tree Hill,” has joined forces with the Ford Motor Company Fund to increase awareness of safe driving practices by teen drivers.  Kate Voegele will be making a special guest appearance at the Governors Highway Safety Association Annual Meeting (closed event) on September 9th.

Voegele will be promoting Ford’s accomplished program, Driving Skills for Life (DSFL), coming next month in Phoenix. The Ford Motor Company Fund’s Driving Skills for Life program teaches newly licensed teens the necessary skills for safe driving beyond what they learn in standard driver education programs.  Visit the website at www.drivingskillsforlife.com.

The DSFL program is offering teens FREE hands-on driver’s training for Phoenix area high schools as part of  National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 20th-24th, 2008). “The program exemplifies a commitment to safety, not only by Ford Motor Company, but by an entire community,” said Jim Graham, community relations manager of Ford Motor Company Fund. “We applaud Kate Voegele and teens around the state for making teen safe driving a top priority.”

“I paired up with Ford to encourage people my age to stay focused on their future and to try to avoid distractions while driving such as staying off your cell phone,” said the 21 year old.
