Fans with Nut Allergies Can Enjoy D-backs Game in Party Suite on Sept. 13
(PHOENIX) – The Arizona Diamondbacks will host children suffering from food allergies in a peanut-controlled suite during the Sept. 13 game versus the Cincinnati Reds at 5:10 p.m. This area will allow many young fans their first opportunity to see a Major League Baseball game.
The D-backs have designated a party suite located in right field a peanut-free zone, reducing the risk of a peanut-related reaction by providing a controlled area for their fans.
Over one-quarter of the estimated 12 million Americans living with food allergies suffer from nut allergies, and six percent of all children have food allergies. Many of those living with these allergies can have severe reactions from smelling peanut dust or inhaling traces of peanuts. These reactions can include life-threatening immune system responses that affect the gastrointestinal, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, as well as skin reactions. For these reasons, attending a baseball game – at which peanuts are prevalent – is often a rare if not impossible opportunity.
The D-backs join a handful of Major League clubs including the Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals to offer fans the opportunity to enjoy a game in a peanut-free environment. For more information, visit dbacks.com.
