American Legion Post 911

American Legion Post 911 based in San Francisco is participating in the American Legion Convention that runs through Wednesday at the Phoenix Convention Center. Interviewed on 12 News this morning by Rick DeBruhl, Post 911 shared that they been described as “The new face of the American Legion” due to their ability to attract new members at an astounding pace by incorporating social activities into their programs.
The Post believes in creating social activities and networking so that Veterans returning home will have the ability to take part in a lot of the same activities they partook in before they left for combat.
Currently the youngest post in nearly 15,000 post inventory, Post 911 has seen a large growth in membership due to their ability to attract other members into the post that are not directly veterans. They attract spouses and children of the veterans into the Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion, along with those unaffiliated to veterans into the Citizen’s Core. The post acts as a second home to many of its members who are always welcome and treated like part of a family.
Post 911 has seen great success since their founding last year on September 11th and is looking to pass on what they have learned to the many other posts internationally so that the American Legion can once again flourish and become a home to all the veterans that are returning home. With this in mind it is Post 911’s dream to create and instill more action of supporting the troops and that is why they believe “We DO for the Troops” is the answer. Instead of simply saying “we support the troops” which, although well-intentioned, does not create the action required to support the troops returning home. WE DO FOR THE TROOPS will create the action that is needed to support the troops.
