American Steakhouse meets Northern Italy at new restaurant at Dobson Ranch Golf Course

The new Veranda Restaurant at Dobson Ranch Golf Course is now open for business.  The public is invited to attend a grand opening celebration on Sep. 12.

In Jan. 2008, Ovations Food Services was awarded management of the restaurant and has since invested more than $ 500,000 in renovations and improvements.  The Veranda opened on Friday, Aug. 21 ushering in a new era of hospitality, based on quality and tradition. It will offer a full service restaurant, bar/lounge, and private dining rooms, as well as an indoor/outdoor function facility to host weddings, fund-raisers, and social events.

The restaurant, which overlooks the first hole and the ninth green of Dobson Ranch Golf Course, was once the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Dobson and was built in the early 1950′s.  The home was originally surrounded by a busy, working cattle ranch.

The Dobson Ranch encompasses some 2600 acres, most of which lies within a 2 mile radius of the golf course.  In 1971 Continental Homes purchased the Dobson properties, and others, to develop a total planned community that eventually would include a population of some 30,000.  To enhance the recreation facilities, Continental Homes built the outstanding 18-hole championship golf course, which, at its completion, was turned over to the city to operate as a public course.  Opening day ceremonies were held on Sep. 30, 1974 where then current PGA champion Lee Trevino played the inaugural round.

In the mid 1980′s management of the Ranch House Restaurant was entrusted to Bud Snickles, and for 23 years, he and his wife Lynn graciously served the citizens of Mesa.

The Veranda will be open daily for breakfast and lunch, Thursday through Saturday for dinner, and Sunday Brunch each week.
