Shea Homes Introduces Energy Efficient Home Heat Shield Package

(Scottsdale, AZ) Shea Homes Arizona has just announced the launch of a new energy efficient package that homeowners can select as an option on their new homes. The new “Home Heat Shield” package includes several energy saving options reducing the amount of heat transferred into your home from the outside. The Home Heat Shield package includes DuPontTMTyvek® ThermaWrapTM house wrap, ECO-ViewTM Energy-Star Rated Low-E Vinyl Windows by Paramount Windows Corp., and LP TechShield® Radiant Barrier Roof Sheathing. The Home Heat Shield Package is especially effective when selected in conjunction with other available energy efficient packages. This new Home Heat Shield package will be offered at most Shea Homes’ communities valley-wide, and will range in price depending on the floor plan and square footage.
Studies have shown that air leakage accounts for 25% to 40% of the energy used for cooling and heating a typical residence. The DuPontTM Tyvek® ThermaWrapTM acts as a weather barrier. In winter the product prevents radiant energy from escaping and in the summer the metalized surface reflects radiant heat to keep the inside cool. A home wrapped in DuPontTMTyvek® ThermaWrapTM will maintain 94% of its installed insulation value compared to only 37% for homes with no weather barrier. This increases interior temperature comfort and reduces energy costs.
LP TechShield® Radiant Barrier Roof Sheathing further saves in energy costs, blocking up to 97% of the radiant heat that can be lost through the roof of the home. It reflects heat and creates a barrier between outside and inside attic temperatures.
ECO-ViewTM Vinyl Windows by Paramount Windows are 100% vinyl frame windows with 3/4″ Dura Seal insulated glass units and warm edge technology for increased thermal efficiency as opposed to traditional aluminum edge windows. These vinyl windows also come with a lifetime warranty to original homeowners. This product, as part of the package, is now available at 17 Shea communities valley-wide.
“Shea Homes is dedicated to saving our homeowners on their energy costs, while reducing the carbon footprint on the environment,” said Ken Peterson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shea Homes. “We continually strive to produce versatile, well designed homes, and being able to offer new energy efficient options at affordable prices is just another way we can not only help our homeowners but also the environment.”
