Mesa small business outreach event offers tips for business stability, draws crowd
August 20, 2008 · Published By Editor
When the City of Mesa partnered with the Small Business Development Center to host an outreach event designed to assist small businesses during these tough economic times, people took note. In fact, more than 50 local business owners and entrepreneurs attended the free workshop on August 13 to gather tips and strategies designed for business success.
The workshop, organized by Mesa’s Office of Economic Development, offered participants the opportunity to review nontraditional lending practices, learn about local marketing and networking resources and refine their skills in business planning. Program speakers included representatives from the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, M&I Bank, Maricopa Small Business Development Center, The Interface Financial Group and City of Mesa Economic Development, Building Safety and Tax Collections departments.
“A top priority for the Economic Development Office is job retention and creation,” said Economic Development Director Bill Jabjiniak. “We will continue to utilize partnerships to assist small businesses as part of our responsibility to help employers recognize and take advantage of the benefits in our community.”
