New version of popular ChopSaver offers SPF 15 sun protection
INDIANAPOLIS – The success of the lip balm ChopSaver has inspired its musician creator to offer his fans an encore: a new version of the all-natural product that protects lips from harmful sun rays.
The result: ChopSaver Gold, which offers the same formula as the original ChopSaver, but with the added bonus of SPF 15 protection.
“Since our goal is to heal and protect lips, it only makes sense for us to offer a product with FDA-approved sunscreens,” said ChopSaver inventor Dan Gosling. “Now we can provide complete protection, in all kinds of weather.”
A professional trumpet player and teacher, Gosling created ChopSaver after 20 years of trying to find a product that could effectively fight the wear and tear that inevitably strikes the lips of wind-instrument players. Like many of his colleagues, he had been disappointed with the smelly, oily, waxy or chemical-based products he found on store shelves.
His answer, ChopSaver, not only won over musicians, but also earned praise from general audiences and endorsements from dermatologists.
It was in 2004 that Gosling stepped out of the trumpet section and into his home kitchen in Indianapolis, mixing together shea butter, mango butter and herbs to find a formula that could promote healing and reduce swelling, chapping and soreness in lips. When he found the right combination, Gosling quickly moved ChopSaver out of his kitchen, into a state-of-the art production facility and onto the market.
The product took off. Musicians around the country began snatching up the lip balm, which is sold in more than 1,000 music stores and specialty shops worldwide and online at www.chopsaver.com. You’ll find ChopSaver in the instrument cases of musicians in the New York Philharmonic and other major U.S. orchestras and performing groups, as well on the chops of celebrated pros such as Arturo Sandoval and Sir James Galway.
The addition of sunscreens is bound to make ChopSaver Gold a hit with both musicians and non-musicians. “As I like to say, anyone under the sun will appreciate ChopSaver Gold,” Gosling says. “As a dad, I’m especially pleased to give parents something they can feel good about putting on their kids’ lips when they’re playing in the sun.”
ChopSaver and ChopSaver Gold with SPF 15 are all-natural lip balms produced and marketed by Good for the Goose Products, the company founded by ChopSaver inventor Dan Gosling. Both products rely on a mixture of essential oils, natural moisturizers and herbs; ChopSaver Gold includes two FDA- approved sunscreens.
