The desire to maintain a hospital in Mesa’s west side and downtown will soon become a reality following the signing of a lease for the former Mesa General Hospital site with a group of doctors affiliated with Advanced Cardiac Specialists (ACS).
Dr. Robert Siegel, a principal with ACS, confirmed today that the group had entered into a lease agreement Sierra Equities Inc. to occupy the former hospital site. “We are very impressed with the efforts of neighborhood leaders, the local businesses, and government working together to keep these vital healthcare services available in this part of Mesa,” said Siegel, “This entire process is about maintaining the quality of life for our patients and Mesa residents.”
“This healthcare facility has served multiple generations,” Councilmember Dave Richins said. “The preservation of a medical center at this location benefits the entire community with quality healthcare downtown and high paying jobs.”
Advanced Cardiac Specialists, recognized for their cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, hyperbaric wound care program and cutting-edge FDA approved clinical research treatments in cardiovascular diseases, is expected to open the new healthcare facility on October 1 as Arizona Regional Medical Center.
“The passionate dedication and collaboration from the ACS doctors, neighborhood leaders, and government representatives made this project possible. ” Mayor Scott Smith said. “This is a great example of how we can work together as a community to ‘Build a Better Mesa.’”
