Phoenix School of Law Hires New Faculty for Fall Semester

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Phoenix School of Law, Arizona’s only privately-owned law school, announces the appointment of eight new professors who will begin on August 1. They are: Placido Gomez, Brigham Fordham, Celia Rumann, Claudine Pease-Wingenter, Mitchell Fleishmann, Maureen Kane, Diana Lopez Jones, and Lori Miller.
Professor Placido Gomez earned his LL.M. from Yale University and his J.D. from the University of New Mexico. He has been a law professor for almost 20 years, and will teach Evidence and Property II.
Assistant Professor Brigham Fordham received his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2001. While in law school, he was founder and president of the Boalt Disability Law Society. He will teach Torts I.
Associate Professor Celia Rumann received her J.D. from the University of San Diego and is fluent in Russian. She will teach Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
Assistant Professor Claudine Pease-Wingenter, senior tax attorney for Exxon Mobil Corporation since October 2000, received her J.D. and LL.M. from the University of Houston Law Center and will teach Criminal Law.
Assistant Professors Mitchell Fleischmann, Maureen Kane, Diana Lopez-Jones and Lori Miller will teach Professional Practice.
Fleischmann received his J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and has been a Legal Research and Writing professor at California Western School of Law in San Diego since 2006. In addition to teaching, he will also serve as the Coordinator of the Lawyering Process program.
Kane received her J.D. from Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 1994. For the past seven years, she has been Staff Counsel, Legislative Analyst and Policy Advisor for the Arizona House of Representatives Democratic Caucus.
Lopez-Jones received her J.D. from Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. She has worked for Titla & Parsi, PLLC, as one of three in-house attorneys for the San Carlos Apache Tribe since 2004.
Miller received her J.D. from ASU in 1987 and her LL.M. in Corporate Law from New York University in 1990. She has taught Business and Employment Law at the University of Phoenix, and has also been in private practice.
