Mark El-Tawil Appointed Market President of Humana’s Arizona Operations

PHOENIX – Mark El-Tawil has been appointed market president of Humana Inc’s (NYSE:HUM) Arizona’s operations, in an announcement made by Paul P. Moore, chief executive officer of Humana’s West Region.

El-Tawil will be responsible for the overall management and strategic planning for Humana’s commercial, consumer-driven and self-insured health benefit products sold to employer groups in Arizona.

“Mark brings with him a dynamic combination of business acumen, diverse career experience and relationships in the health benefits industry and Arizona provider community,” said Moore. “Combining his background and the capable Arizona team already in place, we will have a strong finish to 2008, continuing our growth in the market.”

Prior to joining Humana, El-Tawil served as Health Net Inc.’s Chief Senior Product Officer where he was responsible for the company’s Medicare operations nationally, and has served as Health Net’s Arizona market president. He has also worked at PacifiCare Health Systems, which has since been acquired by UnitedHealthcare.

El-Tawil graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is a resident of the Phoenix area, and has been active in local civic and community activities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona and the Maricopa Community Access Program.
