Two Mesa Fit City Challenge Events to be held in July
July 2, 2008 · Published By Editor
The City of Mesa will conduct two Fit City events in July as part of its ongoing Fit City challenge.
On July 14 the City will be looking for swingers to come out and experience the Dobson Ranch driving range. Whether a seasoned golfer, or if you’ve never held a club before, now is your chance to find out how to get some physical activity on the golf course.
The event, which will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will consist of three 20-minute sessions, which will include instruction, time on the driving range and putting green. Participants are asked to bring their own clubs, or there will be a few clubs available to use for the evening. Space is limited so participants must register for a tee time in advance. To register call 480-644-2352 beginning July 7.
July 15, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the City of Mesa will host “Round’n Out the Red Mountain,” a freeway-opening event to celebrate the completion of Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), the final segment between Power Road and University Drive in Mesa. The celebration will take place on the new, nearly five-mile-long segment of the Loop.
The event will include a brief ceremony with local leaders including Governor Janet Napolitano, a 5k Fun Run/Bike Ride, “Hoops on the Loop” hula-hoop contest (please bring your own hula hoop) and a variety of exhibits from City of Mesa departments and businesses.
Attending either of the July events will meet the Fit City obligation to participate in a monthly activity. Be sure to check-in and wear your Fit City t-shirt.
