(Scottsdale, AZ) - On May 19, Steve Davidson, president/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale dedicated the gymnasium at the Rose Lane Branch to the memory of Jim Hill. Jim was a Scottsdale community hero and volunteer with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale for more than 30 years. In addition to serving as president of the Boys & Girls Clubs Board of Directors and being a board member for 25 years, Jim was actively involved with the organization as a volunteer. Jim coached Little League baseball, youth football, and Scout leadership. He also founded the Booster Club that supported the Club’s sports programs. Jim was also involved with many other local organizations and was honored by being Scottsdale’s first citizen to be registered by the City’s Cultural Art Commission – today a statue of Jim Hill stands in front of the Scottsdale Stadium.

On May 15, the gymnasium at the Hartley & Ruth Barker Branch was dedicated in honor of Bruce MacDougall, a long-time club volunteer and fundraising champion. Bruce volunteered for nearly 14 years, during which time he coached football and basketball. Bruce also developed fundraisers like 50/50 raffles, steak fry’s, barbeques, and staffed concession stands through our Booster Club and raised funds to support the clubs sports programs.

Together Jim and Bruce dedicated an incredible amount of time to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale which impacted the lives of local youths and taught them character-building skills critical to their lives as they reach adulthood.
