Paul Neumann Awarded Firefighter of the Year for Pinal County

June 14, 2008 · By Editor

On Wednesday, May 28, 2008 Paul Neumann was awarded Firefighter of the Year for Pinal County. Neumann has been employed by the City of Maricopa Fire Department for approximately one year. Prior to coming to the department Neumann worked in fire service in various capacities, serving his community with distinction for over a decade.

After joining the Maricopa Fire Department, Neumann was asked to assist the Division of Fire Prevention with Public Education. He has taken a basic program and has turned it into a success.

Neumann, and his fellow firefighters, visited over 4,000 students during fire prevention week teaching the importance of fire safety. In addition, he has created a walk-in Public Education program allowing requests from the public for everything from fire extinguisher training to fire station visits and tours. In addition, Neumann has created the “After the Loss” brochure that is handed out by engine crews to families that have suffered a loss of a loved one from an unexpected incident.

All of these projects are in addition to his normal duties as a firefighter paramedic serving the citizens of the community.

Neumann conducts his assigned tasks with a professional attitude and motivation that goes above and beyond the call of duty. His positive attitude is disseminated throughout our ranks and has instilled the same type of interest with regard to public education among all our line firefighters.

Paul Neumann was selected from among ten nominees from throughout Pinal County. The award was presented at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Casa Grande United Methodist Church.
